Made with 77 found porcelain figurines, mounted on a wooden board, painted with bright colours and then decorated with more than 250,000 hand painted lines, this piece symbolises the connections between us. We are linked together by connecting lines, despite our differences. Most of the figurines are animals, with only 2 human like figurines included. I made The gathering as a wall hanging piece, to give the initial illusion of a painting as if the observer is looking at the crowded earth. On closer view, the observer sees the intricacy and delicateness of this gathering of characters and is hopefully reminded of the fragility and beauty of our own world.
